Mill Hill International School Thailand is preparing to open in Chiang Mai, offering an innovative blend of the British curriculum and Thai cultural values. As the region’s first British international school, it provides a unique educational option for families seeking global standards in learning.

Curriculum and Leadership

Mrs. Kate Simon, Head of Grimsdell and Mill Hill Pre-Preparatory School in the UK, will lead the new institution. The curriculum incorporates IGCSE and A-Level qualifications, focusing on academic excellence alongside essential life skills like creativity, adaptability, and critical thinking. This approach prepares students for higher education and international career success.

The school is a collaboration between Mill Hill Education Group, a prominent UK institution, and Ornsirin Holding Public Company Limited, a leading real estate developer in Northern Thailand. This partnership ensures the curriculum maintains the same rigorous standards as Mill Hill’s UK counterpart. Students will develop their individual talents while becoming responsible global citizens.

Admissions Overview

Mill Hill International School Thailand has a selective admissions process based on age-appropriate assessments:

  • Ages 3-5: Evaluations focus on physical, emotional, and foundational communication skills, without requiring prior English knowledge.
  • Ages 6-10: Assessments cover basic English, mathematics, teamwork, and analytical abilities.

Learning Environment

Dr. Yuthachai Damrongmanee, School Director, highlighted the school’s integration of British education with Thai cultural values. The curriculum emphasizes holistic learning, and all lessons are taught by native English-speaking educators chosen for their expertise in UK educational standards.

Students benefit from advanced learning tools like artificial intelligence and blended learning methods, providing flexibility to study anytime, anywhere. The school also offers various co-curricular activities to enhance mental well-being and social responsibility. The campus is designed for safety and accessibility, strategically located near major transport routes in Chiang Mai.

Graduates will earn IGCSE qualifications with an option to continue A-Level courses, equipping them for higher education or professional careers.

Timeline and Future Plans

Business Manager Ms. Kanyanuk Rattanasatchan announced the campus construction will conclude by December 2024, with classes starting in September 2025. The first phase will accommodate 150-160 students from Nursery to Year 6.

Open houses and curriculum presentations will take place in October 2024. Despite being under construction, the school has already attracted interest from both local and international families.
