The Ministry of Digital Economy and Society (MDES) and the Digital Economy Promotion Agency (depa) have made Sikhio a smart city through the Sikhio Smart Living project. This initiative improves urban safety, enhances public services, and modernizes city data management.
Assistant Professor Dr. Nuttapon Nimmanphatcharin, President and CEO of depa, highlighted that the project integrates technology into Sikhio’s services and infrastructure. Depa supported the city with innovative tools for safety, service efficiency, and social development. The program emphasizes three areas: safety, public service efficiency, and data management, all aimed at improving residents’ quality of life.
Enhancing Urban Safety
The project upgraded software for 52 CCTV cameras across Sikhio District. Artificial intelligence enables identification of vehicles and individuals by features like color, type, and age range. Authorities can now respond faster to incidents. Residents can also report issues like streetlight failures through a dedicated LINE Official Account, with over 700 cases logged in 180 days. The system streamlines problem-solving and helps administrators plan better solutions for recurring issues.
Streamlining Public Services
A Software Design Document was created to optimize data sharing across departments, reducing the workload on officials. The system tracks and resolves issues in real time, covering assets like CCTV cameras, fire extinguishers, and streetlights. This ensures quicker responses and improved public services.
Advancing Data-Driven Management
A city dashboard now consolidates data on common problems like waste management, road damage, and power outages, prioritizing urgent cases. An environmental dashboard tracks data on land use, vegetation, and pets, aiding public health services like vaccine distribution. Welfare data for senior citizens and bedridden patients is also included, helping officials provide timely assistance.
A Blueprint for Smart Cities
Sikhio Smart Living showcases how local leadership and tailored policies can turn cities into smart urban spaces. With sustainable solutions, it stands as a model for improving lives through innovation.
