Thai Version of BTEC Introduced to Strengthen Skills and Global Opportunities for Learners

BANGKOK, THAILAND, 11 DECEMBER 2024: Pearson, a global leader in education, launched the Thai-language BTEC qualification to expand access to career-focused education and support Thailand’s skilled workforce development.

Recognised by the Thai Ministry of Education since 2018, BTEC qualifications have gained significant traction in Thai schools and post-secondary institutions. Now accepted by the Thai University Central Admission System (TCAS), BTEC qualifications are regarded as equivalent to Mattayom 6 and A-levels, opening pathways to over 80 universities in Thailand.

At the launch of NewEd School, a dedicated BTEC institution, Ben Morley, UK Commercial Counsellor and Department of Business and Trade Country Director, highlighted BTEC’s growing importance. “This qualification provides a great pathway for students, with acceptance in numerous Thai universities and recognition through TCAS.”

Annabel Lawday, Pearson Workforce Skills Head of International Stakeholder Relationships, explained how BTEC allows students to pursue an internationally recognised qualification alongside their Thai studies. “It combines flexibility and global recognition, enabling students to retain options for higher education in Thailand or abroad,” she said.

BTEC’s offerings span various subjects, including creative media, digital marketing, business, hospitality, and e-sports, preparing students with practical skills aligned with global market demands. These programs integrate smoothly into existing curricula and are taught in either Thai or English to accommodate diverse preferences.

With recognition from over 300 universities globally and 80 in Thailand, BTEC equips students with knowledge and skills valued by employers, giving them a competitive edge in the job market.

Pearson is committed to assisting Thai institutions in delivering BTEC qualifications. Through training and resources, Pearson supports educators in implementing high-quality programs that meet the evolving needs of learners and industries.
