Vibrant New Year Events Along Chao Phraya River and Beyond
BANGKOK, Dec. 23, 2024 — The Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) is inviting locals and tourists to celebrate the arrival of 2025 at the “Amazing Thailand Countdown 2025.” The main event will take place at Nagaraphirom Park along the Chao Phraya River, offering a stunning view of Wat Arun. Festivities across Thailand will showcase cultural performances, fireworks, and appearances by global stars like BamBam.
Tourism and Sports Minister Sorawong Thienthong highlighted the celebration’s focus on joy, renewal, and hope. He noted that events nationwide will cater to diverse audiences while promoting Thailand’s culture, traditions, and tourism potential. The government aims to attract global visitors by enhancing experiences and boosting quality tourism.
The Amazing Thailand Countdown 2025 is part of the Amazing Thailand Grand Tourism & Sports Year 2025 initiative, emphasizing Thailand’s role as a world-class New Year destination. Collaboration with public and private sectors is expected to reinforce Thailand’s status as a premier global festival hub.
TAT Governor Thapanee Kiatphaibool shared that events in Bangkok, Chiang Mai, and other provinces aim to promote sustainable tourism and highlight regional diversity. These efforts focus on boosting visitor engagement, tourism revenue, and economic growth through world-class events.
The main event at Nagaraphirom Park, running from 28 December 2024 to 1 January 2025, will transform the area into a festival zone. Highlights include floating stage performances, live music by Thai artists like Lula, URBOYTJ, and The Toy, eco-friendly activities, and local cuisine. A spectacular nine-act fireworks display on 31 December will combine advanced technology with pyrotechnics. Visitors can also join merit-making ceremonies at Wat Arun on New Year’s Day.
In Chiang Mai, celebrations from 21 December 2024 to 1 January 2025 at Royal Park Rajapruek will feature cultural showcases, light displays, and concerts by artists including BamBam from GOT7. Fireworks will close the festivities.
Bangkok’s ICONSIAM will host events from 29–31 December 2024 with performances by international artists and Thailand’s longest eco-friendly fireworks show. Spanning 1,400 metres, the display, themed ‘Celebrating the Everlasting Legacy of Siam,’ will highlight Thai heritage through colours and innovative effects.
CentralWorld’s Countdown 2025, scheduled for 31 December, will feature performances by PP Krit, Billkin, and Ice Paris. The venue, known as the ‘Times Square of Asia,’ will present its signature Merry Ville 2025 Christmas tree and a dazzling fireworks display.
TAT is also supporting countdown events in Hua Hin, Udon Thani, Chaiyaphum, Hat Yai, and other regions to ensure the celebrations reach every corner of Thailand. From beachfront fireworks to cultural activities, these events aim to capture the New Year spirit nationwide.
Safety remains a priority, with Tourist Police Commissioner Pol. Lt. Gen. Saksira Pheuk-um assuring strict security measures. Personnel, vehicles, and technology will be deployed to manage crowds and enhance safety. Tourist police will also assist with travel arrangements, reflecting Thailand’s commitment to a secure environment.
With visa-free travel initiatives in place, the country expects a surge in visitors during the holiday season. TAT anticipates the celebrations will attract 1.56 million international visitors and generate 62 billion Baht in tourism revenue.
