Kenan Foundation Asia (Kenan) collaborated with public and private sectors to host the “Building AI and Green Skills for a Sustainable Workforce” conference. The event focused on addressing gaps in policy and practice for incorporating AI and green skills into education and workforce training programs to strengthen Thailand’s economic development.
Thailand’s Vision 2030, known as “Ignite Thailand,” outlines ambitions to lead regional industries such as digital technology, future mobility, and agriculture. To achieve these goals, Thailand is leveraging natural resources, tourism, climate advantages, and its skilled workforce. Businesses are adopting AI to streamline operations, while eco-friendly practices are growing globally. Developing a skilled workforce with AI and sustainability knowledge is key to attracting investment and fostering growth.
Graduates with expertise in AI and green technologies are well-positioned to boost innovation, build sustainable industries, and secure jobs. These skills also support entrepreneurship and help young people transition into the workforce more effectively.
Kenan partnered with government agencies, businesses, schools, and researchers from local and international institutions to deliver this conference. H.E. Mr. Robert F. Godec, U.S. Ambassador to Thailand, opened the event with remarks on “Opportunities to Accelerate Workforce Development through Public-Private Collaboration.” Prof. Sirirurg Songsivilai, PhD, MD, Chairman of Thailand Science Research and Innovation, followed with a keynote speech titled “Empowering Tomorrow: Equipping the STEM Workforce with Essential AI and Green Competencies.”
Discussions explored examples of successful AI and green skills programs, promoted partnerships across sectors, and encouraged the development of sustainable solutions that improve youth employability and economic growth.
Khunying Jada Wattanasiritham, Chairperson of Kenan Foundation Asia, highlighted the conference’s role in uniting stakeholders to advance Thai youth. She emphasized promoting green, digital, and STEM skills to meet evolving workforce demands. Kenan has extended its training programs to include AI and green skills, preparing workers for modern industries.
